East Surrey Subregional - Tandridge

Step 2 - Choosing

Advertising Properties

Properties are advertised each week (the week begins on a Friday). They are advertised in the following ways:

  • Via Property Search on this website.
  • In a newsletter available from support agencies (SCDT, SADAS, Respond, Links, CMHT north & south, ESDAS), Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Oxted & Caterham, Rainers 16+, Tandridge Social Care Team, Bracketts Resource Centre, Douglas Brunton Centre, libraries and other outlets.
  • On display boards in the Council Offices, CAB's and libraries. Other locations may be added in the future.

The adverts tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you.

Where available a photograph of the property or a similar house type is provided and you can access information about the local area and facilities.

The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements and which band will be given priority for the property. If you are not in the band stated you may still apply for the property providing it is suitable for your family size.

A range of symbols are used to tell you about the property.

 1 Bed  2 Bed

The number of bedrooms in the property

The property advertised is sheltered
 Minimum age  Maximum age
The minimum or maximum age that an applicant must be to apply for the property (age restriction will be displayed within the icon when viewed on the Property website or the Newsletter)

The property has a garden

Off road parking is available at the property

The property is wheelchair accessible or has been adapted and priority will be given to households assessed as needing these adaptations.

Expressing Your Interest in a Property

To apply for a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only apply for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step One-Registration for the maximum number of bedrooms that you are entitled to. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding.

You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

  • Online through our website  using your housing application number and the date of birth of the main applicant.
  • By telephoning our 24hr automated bidding line on 0845 270 1908
Properties available to rent are advertised from midnight on a Wednesday to midnight the following Sunday every week.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of 3 properties during the time they are advertised (00:00 Friday Morning to 11:59 the following Wednesday night). Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Wednesday. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your family size.
